The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it was denied access to Eagle Square in Abuja.
Speaking during a project inspection tour on Monday, Wike described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
“We do not deny access; these events actually generate revenue for the government.
“Who denied them? I am not aware of any such development, and I don’t even know which party you are referring to.
“If it is the African Democratic Congress ADC, such claims are their usual attempt to gain public sympathy,” Wike said.
He explained that access to Eagle Square is open to all groups, provided they follow due process, including submitting applications through the Abuja Investments Company Limited and paying the required fees.
Wike also addressed concerns over structural damage at the Kugbo Bus Terminal, clarifying that the incident was caused by a windstorm that affected roofing sheets, not the building itself.
He assured the public that repairs are ongoing and no lives were lost, while urging residents to ignore claims suggesting a collapse.
The minister further expressed satisfaction with ongoing infrastructure projects across the FCT, announcing that road works are expected to be completed by May 15, with streetlight installations to follow by May 31.
