The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has urged its members across local government and ward levels to step up efforts in completing the ongoing electronic registration exercise, while also bringing in new members.
This directive was part of the key decisions reached during a special Executive Council meeting held at the party’s State Secretariat along Okigwe Road in Owerri.
State Chairman Austine Nwachukwu commended the progress recorded so far but stressed the need to accelerate the process. According to him, intensifying the e-registration drive is part of the party’s broader goal to lead by example, both within its ranks and across other political parties.
He encouraged members who are yet to complete their registration to do so through the party’s official online platform. He also called on LGA and Ward Chairmen to strengthen grassroots mobilization to ensure wider participation.
Nwachukwu further emphasized that the PDP remains open to all Imo residents, including those with political ambitions. He described the party as structured, inclusive, and stable, highlighting its unified leadership and absence of internal crises.
In his remarks, the party’s National Secretary and leader in the state, Samuel Anyanwu, expressed optimism about the party’s future. He noted that after the PDP National Convention, which produced a widely accepted leadership, the party is now in a strong position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also hinted at possible defections from influential political figures, suggesting growing confidence in the party’s direction following the resolution of internal leadership challenges.
The PDP also revealed plans to build on recent and ongoing initiatives, including the Women Summit, the Imo PDP Football Tournament, and an upcoming Youth Summit, all aimed at engaging and empowering more people across the state.
