José Mourinho Confirms Benfica Stay

José Mourinho has made it clear that he intends to remain at Benfica, despite the club’s fading hopes of lifting the league title this season.

The situation became more certain after Benfica were held to a 1-1 draw by Casa Pia on Monday. That result effectively ruled them out of the title race, leaving the team with little chance of catching up in the standings.

Even so, Mourinho appears committed to the club. Although his current contract runs until June 2027, there is an option that would allow him to step away at the end of the season. For now, however, he has no plans to activate it.

Speaking about his future, Mourinho emphasized his independence when it comes to career decisions. “Jorge Mendes is my agent, but I make my own decisions. My choice is to stay in Benfica.”

His return to Portuguese football last September marked a significant moment in his career. After more than two decades managing clubs across different countries, Mourinho chose to come back home, bringing his experience and reputation with him.
