APC Screens 98 Aspirants for Rivers Assembly Ahead of 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has completed the screening of 98 aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket for the Rivers State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The exercise took place on Saturday and Sunday in Port Harcourt, where party members and officials gathered for the screening process.

Reacting after the exercise, the Secretary of the Rivers State Assembly Screening Committee, Tanko Yamowa, expressed satisfaction with how the aspirants conducted themselves during the exercise.

Yamowa described the process as peaceful, organised, and free from any form of disruption, noting that the committee had initially expected possible challenges.

According to him, the orderly behaviour displayed by the aspirants reflects growing unity and cooperation within the party in Rivers State.

He said, “The aspirants or the people of Rivers conducted themselves in a very good manner.”

Yamowa further stated, “This is not what we were expecting, but they’ve given us a surprise. We were thinking maybe we would face some challenges, but since yesterday and today, nobody has come here to cause any trouble, and that is to say the APC is one family in Rivers State.”
