Terrorists Attack Baga, Kill 5 in Niger

Suspected terrorists have reportedly attacked Baga community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, leaving at least five people dead, several homes destroyed, and an unknown number of residents abducted.

According to reports, the attackers struck in the early hours of Tuesday, catching villagers off guard and forcing many to flee their homes in search of safety.

A resident, who chose to remain anonymous, described the scale of the assault, claiming that more than 160 armed men stormed the community and set houses on fire using explosives.

“Over 160 terrorists invaded Baga early this morning and have been burning houses using explosives. As of this evening, the entire community is engulfed in flames with thick smoke rising,” he said.

Sources also indicated that the attackers had earlier raided nearby Nada village, where they allegedly rustled cattle before making their way to Baga.

Security personnel have since been deployed to the affected community to restore order.
