I’ll Serve One Term in NNPP, Second in APC – Gov Yusuf

Abba Yusuf has responded to a viral political slogan suggesting he would only serve one term in office, offering a surprising twist to the narrative.

Speaking in a circulating video, the Kano State governor addressed supporters reacting to the Hausa phrase ‘Falle Daya’ (one term), which has been used by critics against his administration. Yusuf stated that while he may indeed serve one term under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), his political journey would extend beyond that.

According to him, his second term ambition would be pursued under the All Progressives Congress.

He said: “Actually, it is only one term in the NNPP party. We will do the second term in the APC.

“As for the ADC party that they have returned to, it will not even do one term, not ever.”

Yusuf’s remarks come amid recent political developments that saw him defect from the NNPP to the APC, following a prolonged crisis within his former party.

The governor’s fallout with his political mentor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had intensified internal tensions within the party. Announcing his defection, Yusuf explained that the move was made “in the best interest of the people of Kano state.”

Before leaving the NNPP, he had also cited worsening internal disagreements and leadership struggles as key reasons for his exit.
