Troops Foil Robbery Attempt, Kill Suspect in Kaduna

Troops have thwarted a robbery attempt in Kaduna State, killing one suspected armed robber during a security operation.

The development was revealed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X, detailing how the operation unfolded.

According to the report, the troops acted on a distress call from a motorist who raised alarm over the activities of suspected robbers along the Mallagum–Kagoro–Kaura checkpoint axis in Kaura Local Government Area.

Security sources said the soldiers swiftly moved to the location and carried out a clearance patrol, during which they encountered the suspects and engaged them.

“One of the armed robbers was neutralised during the exchange, while others escaped into nearby bushes with suspected gunshot wounds,” the source told Makama.

Following the gunfight, troops searched the area and recovered weapons, including a locally made gun, a cutlass, and a knife.

The source further disclosed that six rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were fired during the operation.

Security operatives have since launched efforts to track down the fleeing suspects, while normalcy has reportedly returned to the area.
