Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have killed two suspected bandits during a security operation in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The military operation was launched after intelligence reports revealed that armed suspects were operating from a hideout in the Dooshima District around Sarkin Kudu.
According to the Army, soldiers moved swiftly to the area to dismantle the criminal camp and restore security. However, upon arrival, the troops came under attack, triggering a gunfight with the suspected bandits.
During the exchange, two suspects were neutralised, while others reportedly fled the scene with gunshot injuries.
Security operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, a locally made pistol, mobile phones, charm vests, and other personal items from the scene.
The Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, praised the troops for their bravery and professionalism during the operation.
He stated that the raid forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to eliminate criminal activities and strengthen security across Taraba State and nearby communities.
