The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has announced the formation of political mobilisation committees across the state as part of efforts to strengthen party unity and deepen grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached following a strategic meeting involving top government officials, political appointees, and elected representatives, held at the Government House in Dutse on Sunday.
According to Governor Namadi, the newly constituted committees will operate at multiple levels—state, local government, and ward—ensuring that the party maintains an active presence throughout the state.
He explained that the primary goal of the initiative is to reinforce the party’s structure while reconnecting with supporters at the grassroots. The committees have been tasked with engaging party members, listening to their concerns, and encouraging broader participation in political activities.
In addition, the teams are expected to reach out to aggrieved or inactive members, with the aim of reconciling differences and bringing them back into active involvement within the party.
“We know the party is intact, but we need to go back to the people again, talk to them and explain what the government is doing so that people will continue to have confidence in the government,” the governor said.
Namadi further noted that the committees would play a critical role in preparing the party for the 2027 elections by fostering unity, promoting consultation, and strengthening support across various communities.
Under the structure, the governor will serve as chairman of the state-level committee, while the state party chairman will act as co-chairman. Similar arrangements have been established at the local government and ward levels to ensure coordination and effectiveness.
The committees are also expected to focus on improving party structures, increasing membership and voter registration, identifying internal challenges, and maintaining strong relationships among members and key stakeholders.
