Troops Recover Stolen Vehicle from Kidnappers in Abia

Troops of the 145 Battalion (Rear), operating under Operation Eastern Sanity, have successfully recovered a stolen Toyota Camry during an ongoing search-and-rescue mission in Abia State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade, which said the operation took place within the general areas of Uratta and the Umuchima forest.

The statement, signed by Captain Mazinho Attah, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 14 Brigade in Ohafia, explained that the troops acted on credible intelligence before launching a coordinated operation in the forest axis.

According to the Army, the troops stormed the Umuchima area and carried out a carefully planned search-and-rescue effort, which led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.

The Toyota Camry had earlier been taken from a kidnap victim identified as Mr Bright Ochinachi.

“Investigations revealed that the victim was abducted along the Umuahia–Aba Road on 15 March 2026 but later managed to escape from captivity,” the statement said.

The Army further noted that the recovered vehicle is currently in its custody and will be handed over to its rightful owner after the conclusion of investigations.

It added that intelligence-driven operations are still ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
