Fresh violence has erupted in Plateau State barely 24 hours after Bola Tinubu visited Jos to reassure residents following recent attacks.
In the early hours of Friday, suspected terrorists reportedly attacked Jol community in Riyom Local Government Area, killing a 51-year-old man, Dalyop Betobeje, according to a report by Channels Television.
The incident came shortly after another deadly assault in Heipang District, Bassa LGA, where gunmen allegedly attacked Ban village, killing a secondary school student and injuring several others while destroying property.
The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) condemned the attacks, describing them as “brutal and senseless,” and called for urgent action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Security agencies have confirmed ongoing investigations and operations aimed at arresting those responsible, while residents have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities.
The renewed violence has raised fresh concerns over the fragile security situation in the state, coming just hours after President Tinubu assured residents that efforts were underway to end the cycle of attacks.
“I promise you this experience will not repeat itself,” the President had said during his visit.
However, the latest incidents in Riyom and Heipang highlight the continuing challenges in restoring lasting peace across affected communities.
