Six passengers have been confirmed dead, while 12 others sustained injuries in a road accident along the Okolowo–Jebba expressway in Kwara State.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday near the Danjuma Bakery area, involved a Toyota Hummer bus carrying 18 passengers and a stationary truck, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
“The bus, which was travelling from Lagos to Katsina, reportedly rammed into the parked truck along the highway.
“The impact of the collision led to the death of six passengers on the spot, while 12 others suffered varying degrees of injuries,” he stated.
The injured victims were taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Oke-Oyi for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue.
The truck driver, identified as Kamarudeen Abdullahi from Jos North LGA of Plateau State, was reportedly involved in the incident.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
