Plateau Police Arrest Fake Soldier, 5 Others

The Nigeria Police Force in Plateau State has arrested a suspected fake soldier and five others linked to unrest in Jos.

Police spokesperson Alfred Alabo said the fake soldier was apprehended at Angwan Rukuba, where recent violence claimed several lives. He was reportedly found with a fake Nigerian Military School identity card and was dressed in military-style clothing.

Alabo added that five other suspects were arrested for taking advantage of the tension to carry out theft, particularly around the Terminus area, where they allegedly snatched valuables from residents.

“They are essentially thieves who took advantage of the tension to snatch bags and money from unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.

Security operatives were swiftly deployed to the affected areas, restoring calm and reinforcing presence around key locations, including the university environment.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as authorities continue efforts to maintain peace and prevent further unrest.
