Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha became one of the highlights of the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) after recreating the viral public snub involving Nollywood stars Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
During the award ceremony, Bovi, who was one of the hosts for the night, humorously walked toward Mbatha in a dramatic attempt to get her attention, recreating the now-famous awkward moment between Akindele and Abraham.
The skit was a direct reference to the incident that occurred at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo in March 2026, where Funke Akindele appeared to publicly ignore Toyin Abraham, a moment that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
The original clip sparked widespread reactions online and reignited conversations about the long-rumoured rivalry between the two actresses.
At the AMVCA, the recreated version immediately drew laughter and cheers from the audience, with many viewers describing it as one of the funniest moments of the event.
Despite the joke, those involved appeared to take the situation lightly.
After the ceremony, Toyin Abraham reportedly approached Bovi and admitted she had anticipated the comedian would reference the viral moment during the show.
“I knew you were going to crack that joke, but I am not going to lie, that was funny,” she reportedly told him with a smile.
Although the AMVCA reenactment was received as harmless comedy, it also renewed public attention on the ongoing tension between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
Following the original snub incident earlier in the year, both actresses reportedly unfollowed each other on social media, fueling further speculation about their relationship.
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo had also weighed in on the controversy at the time, accusing Toyin Abraham of violating a peace agreement with Akindele.
