NBA Demands Release of Abducted Lawyer

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called for the immediate release of abducted lawyer and National Youth Service Corps member, Eunice Ameh.

NBA President Afam Osigwe made the appeal in a statement shared on X on Saturday, describing her disappearance as deeply troubling to the legal community.

“Release Eunice Ameh now! When a young lawyer goes missing, the pain is not distant to the Nigerian Bar Association, it is personal,” Osigwe stated.

According to him, the association views the incident as more than just another missing person case because lawyers across the country are emotionally connected through shared experiences and professional bonds.

He stressed that no young Nigerian serving under the NYSC scheme should disappear without a swift and coordinated response from security agencies.

“No young Nigerian who answered the call to national service should disappear without an immediate, coordinated, and determined response from our security agencies,” he added.

Osigwe also urged the Kayode Egbetokun to intensify efforts toward securing Ameh’s release.

Reports indicate that suspected kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N20 million.

Ameh was reportedly last seen on Wednesday evening while returning home from work in the Maitama area of Abuja.
