Renowned Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has shared personal reasons behind her decision to stop attending church services physically.
Speaking in a video posted on Snapchat on Sunday, the actress explained that the level of attention she receives whenever she attends church often disrupts her experience, as the focus tends to shift away from worship.
According to her, congregants frequently take photos with her during services, making it difficult for her to fully participate.
“Anytime I go to church, I am always the one they take pictures of. So I will join online.”
As a result, she revealed that she now opts to attend services virtually, allowing her to engage without distractions.
Her comments come years after she publicly expressed her affiliation with the Celestial Church of Christ.
Reflecting on her spiritual journey in 2022, Funke Akindele said:
“Every time I have challenges I go to the Celestial church quietly at night for solutions. But I have to stop hiding and publicly identify with the church”.
