Yahaya Bello Calls for Legislative Experience in 2027 Elections

Former Yahaya Bello has urged Kogi residents to prioritise legislative experience when making decisions ahead of the 2027 elections.

He made the remarks at an event organised by Leke Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Yahaya Bello said lawmakers with multiple terms tend to be more effective due to their understanding of legislative processes, networks, and institutional dynamics.

He noted that seniority within the National Assembly often translates into stronger influence, better committee roles, and improved capacity to deliver constituency projects.

“I understand the aspirations of our brothers and sisters in Mopa-Muro.

“It is indeed your turn, but there is wisdom in timing. Allow Abejide to complete a third term and bring greater development to the constituency. After him, the opportunity will come, and it will come stronger,” he stated.

Yahaya Bello also encouraged Abejide, currently a member of the African Democratic Congress, to join the All Progressives Congress and seek re-election.

“We want him to join our party, the APC, and return to the House of Representatives for a third term.”
