The Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, in Cross River State has expressed confidence in its preparedness for the 2027 general elections, pledging to present credible candidates across elective positions.
The state chairman of the party, Goddie Akpama, disclosed this during an interview in Calabar, where he described the NDC as an emerging political force gaining traction.
According to him, the party has witnessed significant growth in recent days, which he linked to the involvement of notable political figures such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He noted that the party’s increasing visibility and alignment with influential personalities have strengthened its structure and expanded its appeal nationwide.
“The NDC represents a new direction for Nigeria, the party remains committed to providing credible leadership.
“The party is aligning with key political figures to strengthen its structure and national appeal,” he said.
Akpama acknowledged that internal disagreements are inevitable within any democratic system but emphasised that such differences would not derail the party’s progress.
He said the NDC is actively working to build unity among its members and stakeholders, while also taking steps to prevent internal conflicts that could hinder its development.
Looking ahead, the chairman stated that the party is focused on consolidating its support base and positioning itself as a viable alternative platform capable of competing at both national and state levels.
“We are not jokers, we will ensure that all elective positions are filled with candidates who have capacity and integrity,” he said.
He added that strengthening the party’s organisational structure and maintaining internal cohesion remain top priorities as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
