Sokoto PDP Rejects Dissolution of State Executive

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has rejected the decision by the party’s national leadership to dissolve its state executive committee, describing the move as unconstitutional.

The national headquarters had earlier announced the dissolution in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudu Mohammed, and named a 15-member caretaker committee led by Hayatu Tafida, with Ahmed S. Pawa serving as secretary.

However, Sokoto PDP Chairman Bello Goronyo dismissed the action, insisting the current executive remains valid.

“When I saw the statement, I laughed because you cannot simply dissolve an elected executive. It cannot be done in that manner.

“We were duly elected into office, and only a court of law has the authority to remove us. Therefore, we remain the legitimate leaders of the PDP in Sokoto State,” he said.

Goronyo maintained that the state leadership was properly elected and cannot be removed without due legal process.
