Labour Party Announces Congresses, Primary Dates

The Labour Party has officially notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of its timetable for congresses and the 2027 presidential primary.

In a letter signed by Interim National Chairman Nenadi Usman, the party outlined dates for its ward, local government, and state congresses, as well as its national convention.

According to the schedule, ward congresses will hold on April 23, followed by local government congresses on April 24 and state congresses on April 25.

The presidential primary and national convention are slated for April 28 at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, Abia State.

Usman explained that the notification complies with provisions of the Electoral Act and the Nigerian Constitution, which require political parties to inform INEC of such activities.

She noted that the earlier schedule was adjusted to allow broader participation and completion of the party’s digital membership registration.

The Labour Party also urged INEC to notify its state offices to ensure proper monitoring of the processes, reaffirming its commitment to democratic development in Nigeria.
