The APC Youth Network in Bayelsa State has called for an urgent forensic investigation and possible termination of a pipeline protection contract, following the resignation of Joshua MacIver, a former deputy governorship candidate who reportedly serves as the state coordinator of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).
The company, owned by former militant leader Government Ekpemukpulo, widely known as Tompolo, is responsible for securing oil pipelines under a lucrative federal contract.
In a statement issued by Comrade Preye Godson, the APC youth group accused MacIver of benefiting significantly from the arrangement while allegedly demonstrating limited loyalty to the party and the country.
They further claimed that the contract reportedly worth about $144 million (over ₦48 billion) each year has been taken over by individuals more interested in personal gain than in ensuring pipeline security, regional progress, or party discipline.
“Joshua MacIver did not join the APC because he believed in the vision for a better Nigeria. He did not run as deputy governorship candidate out of genuine love for Bayelsa or the Renewed Hope project. He was there purely for personal gain.
“This is the height of political prostitution and betrayal. MacIver and his likes treat the APC like a temporary vehicle for enrichment,” the statement said, describing the pipeline protection contract as a symbol of cronyism, lacking transparency, and offering questionable value for money.
The group also pointed to ongoing issues such as illegal bunkering, oil theft, and persistent security gaps in the creeks. According to them, the current arrangement places vast resources in the hands of a few individuals whose main interest lies in profit rather than national security.
“MacIver perfectly embodies everything wrong with this arrangement. If beneficiaries like him can resign from the APC and still retain their positions of immense financial benefit, then the contract has failed the test of loyalty, accountability, and national interest,” the APC Youth Network added.
They are demanding a comprehensive forensic audit covering how the contract was awarded, payments made, renewals, performance records, and its actual impact on oil production and theft especially in Bayelsa State.
The group also appealed to Bola Tinubu to end the contract after the investigation and replace it with a more transparent and competitive system. They suggested involving the Nigerian Navy, properly supervised local communities, or credible public institutions.
“The Niger Delta deserves genuine security and development, not rented loyalty from men who jump ship politically while holding onto public funds. The Renewed Hope Agenda cannot accommodate characters who treat party membership and national contracts as tools for self-enrichment.
“Continuing this deal in its current form rewards betrayal and undermines the very foundations of party discipline and good governance.
“Your Excellency, the youths of the APC in Bayelsa stand ready to support any decisive action you take to clean up this mess. Terminate the contract. Hold opportunists like Joshua MacIver accountable. Let this be the moment you send a clear message: Nigeria and the APC are for patriots, not stomach politicians.”
