England national football team head coach Thomas Tuchel has come to the defense of Ben White after the defender was booed by some fans during England’s 1-1 friendly draw against Uruguay national football team on Friday.
White faced jeers from sections of the crowd at Wembley Stadium during the match, despite putting in a solid performance.
The game saw both sides share the spoils, with goals from White and Federico Valverde ensuring the contest ended level.
Speaking after the match, Tuchel expressed his disappointment at the reaction from supporters, emphasizing the need to stand by players.
“I’m disappointed, because of course we protect our players,” Tuchel said.
“Ben was excellent in camp; he deserved to come on. We will always protect Ben.
“He is ready to write some new chapters, and we are ready to give him the chance.”
The England boss made it clear that the team remains fully behind White, backing him to move forward and contribute positively in future matches.
