Appeal Court Ruling Doesn’t Change Party Leadership – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that a recent decision by the Court of Appeal of Nigeria does not affect the party’s current leadership.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC explained that the court dismissed the appeal due to procedural issues and did not make any ruling regarding who should lead the party.

According to the statement, the judgment does not alter the positions of David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.

Abdullahi noted that the court did not determine the main leadership dispute. He explained that the case challenging the emergence of Mark and Aregbesola is still before the Federal High Court of Nigeria, where it has yet to be fully heard or decided.

He added that the Court of Appeal did not grant any of the requests made by the individual who filed the case and did not issue any order altering the party’s leadership structure.

Instead, the court directed all parties involved to maintain the “status quo,” meaning the existing leadership arrangement should remain in place until the Federal High Court reaches a final decision.

Abdullahi therefore urged ADC members and the public not to panic or be misled by what he described as incorrect interpretations of the judgment.

He emphasized that the ruling is purely procedural and does not affect the legitimacy or tenure of the party’s current national leadership.

The party also stated that it remains united and focused despite what it described as attempts by certain forces to push Nigeria toward a one-party system.
