The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered and returned a misplaced bag to its rightful owner after it was found by a tricycle operator in Kano.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the bag was discovered by a tricycle rider identified as Abba Abdullahi Abubakar after a passenger accidentally left it behind in his tricycle.
The incident reportedly occurred on November 8, 2025, when the rider transported the passenger from Hotoro to the Naibawa Yan Lemo area of Kano.
After noticing the forgotten bag, the tricycle operator reportedly made several attempts to locate the owner, including announcing the incident through radio stations. However, when all efforts failed, he handed the bag over to the police headquarters in Bompai for safekeeping.
The police later issued a public notice regarding the missing property, which led to the owner, Abdullahi Saleh, coming forward to identify and claim the bag.
According to the police, the bag contained clothing materials and an undisclosed sum of money. It was returned to the owner after he presented proper identification and evidence confirming ownership.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the honesty displayed by both the tricycle operator and the owner.
He said, “Such conduct strengthens public trust in the police and promotes the values of honesty, integrity, and community partnership.”
Bakori also encouraged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies in efforts aimed at reuniting lost items with their rightful owners.
He noted that such actions help to strengthen trust and improve relations between the police and the community.
