Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation, has turned a new political leaf by officially joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The formal move took place on Friday morning as Amaechi completed his registration at Ward 8 in Ubima, located in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Addressing a crowd of supporters shortly after signing up, the former governor called for restraint, specifically advising his followers to avoid any impulse toward retaliation or chaos.
“Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody — don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community,” he said.
Amaechi noted his approval of the professional behavior shown by the security teams on the ground, offering specific credit to the state commissioner of police and the director of the Department of State Services.
Additionally, he urged law enforcement to act quickly in tracking down and bringing to justice those responsible for recent arson attacks, making it clear that such scare tactics won’t stop the party from operating in the region.
