ADC Zamfara Crisis Deepens Over Leadership Dispute

A leadership dispute has emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State, with two factions laying claim to control of the party’s structure.

One faction, led by Malam Mohammed Mainasara, said it was authorised by the party’s national leadership to conduct the state congress, which produced a new executive through a consensus process.

According to Mainasara, Malam Shehu Gulubba emerged as State Chairman, with Ahmad Hashim as Secretary. Other officials include Jafafar Aliyu as Youth Leader and Maryam Abdullahi as Women Leader.

Gulubba, in his acceptance speech, promised to strengthen the party’s unity and focus on grassroots mobilisation.

However, a rival faction headed by Kabiru Garba Gusau has rejected the outcome, insisting he remains the legitimate chairman of the party in the state.

Gusau described the exercise as invalid, alleging that it was backed by individuals seeking to destabilise the party for political advantage. He maintained that any credible congress must involve all stakeholders.

The faction also disclosed that the matter has been reported to security agencies, including the police and the DSS, while announcing disciplinary actions against members involved in the disputed congress.
