US Iran Tensions Escalate Over Strait of Hormuz Blockade

Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated sharply, with Iranian authorities warning that any attempt to approach the Strait of Hormuz could have serious consequences.

The warning follows an announcement by the US Central Command that it will begin enforcing a blockade of Iranian Gulf ports, effectively tightening control over maritime activity in the region.

“The blockade will be enforced without bias against vessels from all nations entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal regions, which includes all Iranian ports located in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman.”

At the same time, the US Navy clarified that it would “not obstruct freedom of navigation for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.”

The move comes after Donald Trump previously threatened a full blockade following the breakdown of peace talks with Iran.

In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned that any hostile action could trigger severe consequences, describing the situation as potentially dangerous for “enemy nations.”

Iran’s naval leadership also dismissed the US position, with navy chief Shahram Irani calling the blockade threat “ridiculous and funny,” while stating that Iranian forces are closely monitoring US military movements in the region.
