ADC Elects New Nasarawa Leaders Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nasarawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has ushered in a new leadership team following the successful conclusion of its state congress, with former Deputy Governor John Michael Abdul elected as state chairman.

The congress, held on Saturday, also produced Isah Adamu Nadare as secretary, alongside a full lineup of executives expected to steer the party’s affairs as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Those elected into key positions include Prince Mohammed Yamusa Chindo as deputy chairman, Aminu Nagogo as treasurer, Elmahmud Hussaini Sani as financial secretary, Hajiya Hafsat Ibrahim Tiyel as women leader, Prince Shekwoaga Musa Maikasuwa as youth leader, Barrister Paul Magaji Ajeh as legal adviser, Dr Taimako Sunday Anyuabaga as publicity secretary, and Hajiya Hassana Musa Maidoki as auditor.

At the zonal level, Idris Ojoko emerged as vice chairman for Nasarawa West, while Alhaji Yahaya Onyapa and Mr Joseph Masin were elected to represent Nasarawa South and Nasarawa North, respectively.

In his acceptance speech, Abdul expressed appreciation to party members for their confidence in the new leadership, promising to prioritize unity and expand grassroots mobilization across the state.

“We will work with all stakeholders to reposition the party and ensure victory in the 2027 general elections. Our primaries will be fair, inclusive, and transparent for all aspirants,” he assured.

The event also featured goodwill messages from prominent party stakeholders, including Deputy National Chairman Senator Patricia Akwashiki, National Vice Chairman (Diaspora) Barrister Musa Elayo, Chief of Staff to the National Chairman Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe, and State Chief Whip Mr Julius Miyanki Ogah. They collectively urged the newly elected executives to intensify efforts in mobilizing support and strengthening the party’s presence across the state.

The congress drew participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders and political aspirants, including Hon. Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, Major General Nuhu Angbazo, Alhaji Jibril Sabo Keana, Hon. Ayuba Umar, Alhaji Nasiru Soja Abdullahi, and Hon. Umar Shuaibu Kubi, among others.

With the new leadership now in place, attention is expected to shift toward consolidating party structures and building momentum ahead of future electoral contests.
