Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence for Two in Jigawa

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has upheld the death sentences of two men convicted in separate murder cases in Jigawa State, bringing an end to their lengthy legal battles.

In a unanimous ruling delivered on Friday, the court dismissed the appeals filed by Abdulmajid Hassan and Adamu Audu, affirming earlier judgments by the Jigawa State High Court and the Court of Appeal of Nigeria.

The two were convicted over separate fatal stabbing incidents, and the latest decision effectively closes all remaining legal options available to them.

Reacting to the judgment, Jigawa State Attorney-General Bello A. Fanini said the ruling reinforces the government’s commitment to justice.

“This outcome sends a clear message that Jigawa is not a safe haven for criminal activity,” Fanini stated, adding that the state’s justice system remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
