The African Democratic Congress has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress is making efforts to disrupt its planned opposition summit scheduled to take place in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The claim was made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a post shared on X, where he said the party had uncovered plans aimed at interfering with the April 25 event.
“We have uncovered plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit being held by the opposition parties in Ibadan,” Abdullahi said.
He stated that the opposition remains determined to proceed with the gathering, despite what he described as ongoing attempts to frustrate its activities.
According to him, the party has previously faced similar challenges, including difficulties securing venues for meetings in Abuja.
“After denying us the use of venues in Abuja, they now will not leave us alone to hold our meetings,” he stated.
“They say they are not scared, but they are behaving like people who are terrified.”
Abdullahi maintained that the opposition would not be discouraged by the alleged actions and would continue with its plans.
“We will not be deterred, because we are on the side of the Nigerian people,” he added.
The allegation comes amid heightened political activity as opposition groups explore strategies ahead of future elections. Abdullahi had earlier raised similar concerns during a previous ADC convention in Abuja, where he claimed there were last-minute attempts to disrupt the event.
