Accord Party Says It Is Ready to Govern Oyo in 2027

Hon. Olayinka Dairo, the Oyo State Secretary of the Accord Party, has stated that the party is unified and prepared to assume leadership of the state government in 2027.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Tuesday, Dairo refuted claims of internal divisions within the party.

He affirmed that the national executives, led by Chairman Hon. Maxwell Mgbudem and National Secretary Dr. Adebukola Ajaja, are working together for a successful outcome in the 2027 general elections.

According to the state secretary, any internal disagreements within the party are handled privately, much like a family, without being made public.

He explained that this approach aligns with the party’s constitution, which stipulates that any member who takes the party to court automatically forfeits their membership.

“On e-registration, it is mandatory as per the Electoral Act.

“We have sensitised our members and we’re facilitating registration across the 33 Local Governments, ensuring a smooth process before the INEC deadline,” he said.

Looking ahead to 2027, Dairo expressed confidence in the party’s strength in Oyo State, indicating its readiness to take on the leadership role.

He mentioned that the party is engaging with other political groups and expanding its membership, while also being open to the concept of zoning, even though it is not explicitly stated in the constitution.

“Any zone seeking it must work hard to make it happen, especially considering Ibadan’s influence,” he said.

The party scribe urged citizens to register as voters, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and actively participate in shaping the future of Oyo State and Nigeria.
