The Yobe State Executive Council has ratified a total of N59.8 billion to fast-track the implementation of various infrastructure and service-oriented projects previously approved by the state government.
The disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, shortly after the council’s meeting held in Damaturu on Monday.
According to him, the approved memoranda span several critical sectors, including road construction, healthcare, transport, energy, commerce, and sports development. The aim, he noted, is to accelerate ongoing projects and expand access to essential services across the state.
A substantial portion of the funds—N34.1 billion—has been earmarked for road construction projects. These include the development of a 59-kilometre road linking Kaliyari to Baymari, as well as a 53-kilometre stretch from Bayamari to Geidam.
In the area of commerce, the council approved N8.5 billion for the construction of the Jajimaji Modern Market, along with external works at the Machina and Buni Yadi modern markets.
