Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered additional weapons and ammunition during follow-up clearance operations conducted after a recent terrorist attack on Kukareta in Yobe State.
The development was disclosed in a post on X by counter-insurgency and security expert Zagazola Makama, who monitors activities in the Lake Chad region.
According to Makama, the troops carried out a detailed sweep of the general area of contact at about 8:00 a.m. as part of ongoing exploitation operations aimed at tracking down insurgents who fled the scene.
During the search, the troops reportedly recovered one AK-47 rifle with registration number 178910, along with a magazine and five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The items are believed to have been abandoned by the attackers during their escape.
Makama stated that the recovered materials have since been secured, adding that there was no further encounter with hostile elements during the operation.
“Troops would continue follow-up exploitation operations in the area, noting that the general security situation remains fluid but under control, with troops maintaining high morale and operational effectiveness,” he stated.
