YEDC Announces Power Outages in Northeast Over TCN Upgrade

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company has announced a fresh round of planned electricity outages affecting several parts of Nigeria’s northeast, as work begins on upgrading key transmission infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the company disclosed that the outages will impact the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line (2JOS-BAU-GMB1) between April 9 and May 22, 2026.

According to YEDC, the maintenance will be carried out by contractors from the Transmission Company of Nigeria along the 276-kilometre transmission corridor. The exercise is aimed at strengthening the network and improving the overall reliability of electricity supply across the region.

As a result of the ongoing work, residents in Adamawa, Taraba, and Yobe states are expected to experience intermittent power disruptions.

The company noted that outages will mainly occur during daytime hours, between 9am and 6pm, for at least four days each week throughout the maintenance period.

YEDC also called on customers to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to protect electricity infrastructure, including transformers, from vandalism during the outage period.

While apologising for the inconvenience caused, the company appealed for patience and understanding, stressing that the maintenance is essential for delivering a more stable and efficient power supply in the long run.

Customers were further encouraged to reach out through official YEDC service channels for inquiries or to report faults, as the company reiterated its commitment to improving service delivery across its coverage area.
