Tragedy has struck Okitipupa in Ondo State after a man suspected to be mentally unstable allegedly killed three children in a brutal attack.
The victims reportedly included the suspect’s son and two other members of his extended family. A female relative seeking admission into a tertiary institution was also among those killed.
The suspect allegedly carried out the attack with a machete inside the family residence before fleeing the scene.
A resident, who spoke anonymously, described the incident as deeply shocking.
“The victims include a student and two young boys. One of them is the attacker’s son, while the others are members of the extended family. It is a devastating loss.”
Police authorities have since confirmed the arrest of the suspect and said he will be charged in court.
The bodies of the victims have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital in the community.
