Sowore Defends Soldiers Accused of Coup Plot

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has stepped into the fray regarding the detention of several soldiers accused of conspiring against President Bola Tinubu.

Attending a press conference organized by the wives of these soldiers on Friday, Sowore suggested that certain high-ranking military figures are simply using these arrests to curry favor with the President.

The women at the heart of the event made a direct plea to the administration, demanding that their husbands either be formally prosecuted in a court of law or set free immediately.

Following the briefing, Sowore offered his perspective on the situation, questioning the legitimacy of the allegations.

“What we have gathered from the families of the 120 detained military officers is that there’s no evidence of any coup.

“It’s just some high-level officials who are trying to buy the loyalty of President Tinubu and create a fear factor. That’s how they control people in power.

“We are here to ensure that justice is done no matter what it takes. I have experienced many instances where people are accused of plotting a coup that they never did.”
