The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has refuted reports claiming that the Federal Government suspended students’ upkeep allowances under the student loan programme.
In a statement released on Thursday by the agency’s spokesperson, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND described the circulating reports as inaccurate and misleading.
The agency clarified that no official decision has been made to halt the upkeep allowance for beneficiaries of the scheme.
“NELFUND also urges the public to refrain from sharing unverified content capable of spreading misinformation and causing unnecessary anxiety among students and parents nationwide.
“The Fund remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding access to higher education and supporting Nigerian students through sustainable financing initiatives,” the statement reads.
NELFUND reassured students and parents that the programme remains active and that support for eligible beneficiaries will continue as planned.
