Don’t Inherit My Political Enemies — Makinde Advises Adekanbi

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has advised Bimbo Adekanbi, the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), to focus on building her own political identity rather than inheriting his political battles if she emerges victorious in the 2027 election.

Makinde gave the advice during the party’s presidential and governorship primary election, where he urged Adekanbi to remain committed to governance, service delivery, and sustaining ongoing development initiatives across the state.

According to the governor, leadership comes with imperfections, noting that public office holders are bound to make mistakes.

“Don’t inherit my enemies, chart your own path. I am only human and I make mistakes,” Makinde said.

He encouraged the governorship hopeful to improve on the achievements of his administration and continue policies that benefit the people.

“Make sure you build on anything we have done to help our people,” he said.

Makinde also referenced his administration’s “Omituntun” development agenda, expressing confidence in the state’s continued progress.

“You have gone through my first term, Omituntun 1.0. You’ve gone through my second term, Omituntun 2.0.

“Omituntun 3.0 is starting up, and I promise you that Bimbo Adekanbi will do a great job for you,” he stated.
