Kebbi Government Names New AFUSTA Sole Administrator

The Kebbi State Government has appointed Ismaila Arzika-Mungadi as the Sole Administrator of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology following sweeping changes in the institution’s leadership structure.

The appointment comes after the state government dissolved the university’s governing council and removed several principal officers over unresolved administrative issues.

The development was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Mansur-Ango.

During a visit to the university, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education, Isha Abubakar-Tunga, formally introduced the new administrator to members of the university community.

The commissioner, accompanied by the acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, directed Arzika-Mungadi to immediately assume responsibility as the institution’s custodian and chief executive officer.

According to Abubakar-Tunga, the state government’s action followed recommendations submitted by a visitation panel set up to assess the affairs of the university.

“The actions taken by the government were guided by the findings and recommendations of the visitation panel, with the overall objective of repositioning the university for better performance,” he said.

He further stated that the officers removed from their positions would remain employees of the university pending additional decisions by the state government.

The commissioner also ordered an immediate handover of official responsibilities to facilitate a smooth administrative transition within the institution.

Responding after his appointment, Arzika-Mungadi expressed gratitude to the state government for the confidence reposed in him and appealed to staff and students for cooperation as efforts begin to stabilise and reposition the university.
