Kebbi Govt Dissolves AFUSTA Governing Council, Sacks VC

The Kebbi State Government has carried out a major shake-up at Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, dissolving the institution’s Governing Council in line with recommendations from a recently constituted visitation panel.

The decision was ratified during a meeting of the State Executive Council and later communicated in an official statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida.

As part of the restructuring, the government relieved several top officials of their positions, including the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellors in charge of Academic and Administration, the Registrar, and the Bursar. The appointment of Abba Mohammed Adua was also terminated.

In the interim, Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed as Sole Administrator to oversee the affairs of the university. His role will involve managing the institution’s operations until a new Governing Council is constituted and new principal officers are appointed.

The changes take effect from April 30, 2026, signaling the state government’s intent to reposition the university following the findings of the review panel.
