The Police Command in Ekiti State has assured residents of adequate security arrangements for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Eribo, gave the assurance in a statement issued on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu.
Eribo also extended his goodwill to the people of the state, especially Muslim faithful, on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
He encouraged Muslims to use the festive period to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of Nigeria.
The commissioner disclosed that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), as well as heads of intelligence and tactical units, have been instructed to reinforce security measures and deploy sufficient personnel to key locations and places of worship across the state.
He further appealed to parents and guardians to advise their children and wards against engaging in activities that could disrupt public peace.
Eribo warned that anyone found involved in unlawful acts would face the full weight of the law.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and security conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious movement or incident to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
