Eid-el-Fitr: Asaba Muslims Offer Prayers for Peace

Muslims in Asaba have observed Eid prayers to mark the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, offering supplications for peace and national progress amid the country’s challenges.

Eid al-Fitr, often referred to as “the festival of breaking the fast,” signifies the end of the month-long Ramadan fast.

At the Uzoigwe prayer ground, the Chief Imam of Yoruba Central Mosque, Asaba, Adams Ayakunu, urged Nigerians to uphold the values of love, compassion, and charity, especially towards the less privileged.

Other religious leaders also stressed the importance of sustaining the virtues cultivated during Ramadan, encouraging Muslims to continue showing empathy and kindness even after the fasting period.

“The essence of Eid al-Fitr lies in the renewal of faith, the expression of gratitude, and the strengthening of bonds within the Muslim community,” he said.

The faithful also offered prayers for peace and development across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Dennis Guwor, extended warm greetings to Muslims in the state and across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the governor commended Muslims for their devotion, sacrifice, and commitment to the spiritual principles of Islam during Ramadan.

He described the holy month as a period of reflection, discipline, compassion, and renewed faith, urging Muslims to sustain these values for the collective good of society.

Oborevwori also highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity, and tolerance among people of diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds.

He called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for continued peace, stability, and national development, stressing that collective effort and mutual understanding are essential to overcoming current socio-economic challenges.

While wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid celebration, the governor assured residents of his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and overall welfare, in line with his M.O.R.E Agenda.

He also advised residents to celebrate responsibly and support ongoing efforts to build a safer and more prosperous Delta State.

Similarly, Dennis Guwor called for compassion, unity, and renewed attention to human development.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, he said, “Eid-el-Fitr reminds us of the profound values of empathy, kindness, and generosity towards others.”

He prayed that the spirit of Eid would inspire compassion, understanding, and a more just and harmonious Nigeria.

He also prayed for Allah to accept the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful, forgive shortcomings, and bless the nation with lasting peace, progress, and prosperity.

“On behalf of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, I warmly felicitate with the Muslim Ummah across our dear country on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan,” Guwor said.
