Afrobeats star, Asake aslo known has Mr Money, has opened up about how a difficult relationship with his father led him to leave home at the age of 15 in pursuit of his music career.
In an interview with Korty EO, the singer shared that his father, Fatai Odunsi, strongly opposed his decision to venture into music, which created tension between them.
He explained that the disagreement became so intense that he decided to leave home and follow his passion, despite the challenges ahead.
“The father who gave birth to me, he’s more stubborn than I am. So I couldn’t look him in the face. We were close when I was younger, but I came to a point when I wanted to leave home to do what I am doing now, but my father said no. But I just took off regardless. I was 15 then, focused on where I was going. And there was nothing anybody could tell me,” he said.
Despite the strained history, Asake said his feelings toward his father remain unchanged.
He emphasized that regardless of their past differences, his father is still an important part of his life, adding that he loves him just as much as he loves his mother.
