Eight students from the Faculty of Engineering at Nasarawa State University were reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday night after armed men invaded an off-campus student lodge in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
According to security sources, the attackers stormed the residence located in Anguwar Ninzo, on the outskirts of Gudi, and whisked the students away to an unknown location.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, said six students and another individual believed to be a visitor were identified among the victims.
“On 6th May, 2026, at about 21:00 hours, the command received a distress call reporting that a group of armed hoodlums stormed a students’ lodge located at Anguwar Ninzo, Gudi,” the statement read.
The police said a joint security operation involving the police, DSS, military, NSCDC, vigilante groups, and other tactical teams has been launched to rescue the abducted students and apprehend those responsible.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed also visited the scene and assured residents and the university community that security agencies are working aggressively to secure the victims’ safe return.
