Police Arrest Eight Suspected Kidnappers in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers following a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, located in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid.

According to the statement, the operation was launched after security agencies received a distress report in the early hours of May 7 concerning an attack allegedly carried out by armed hoodlums in the community the previous night.

The police said the attackers invaded the area “shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents” before abducting two persons from separate homes and taking them to an unknown location.

Following the incident, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, working in collaboration with other security agencies and local youths, immediately commenced coordinated operations aimed at tracking down the suspects.

The operation eventually led to the arrest of eight individuals believed to be connected to the attack.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all reportedly from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

During the operation, security operatives recovered several items believed to be linked to the attack, including “two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells connected to the attack”.

The police further disclosed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving medical treatment.

Reacting to the development, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the officers involved in the operation, describing the outcome as a reflection of effective intelligence-led policing and strong inter-agency cooperation.

The statement also noted that the IGP appreciated “the invaluable support of sister security agencies, local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents whose cooperation significantly contributed to the successful outcome of the operation.”
