Abuja-based company, Stone Rockers Limited, has instituted a N5 billion lawsuit against the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over what it described as the unlawful closure of its operations and seizure of its equipment.
The suit, filed through Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olalekan Ojo, lists the NSCDC, its Commandant General, and one Attah John Onoja as defendants.
According to the company, the defendants acted outside their legal authority by sealing its quarry site without obtaining a court order. The site, located at Plot FL-109 Cadastral Zone, Gaube Farmland Layout in Barmishi Village, Kuje Area Council, is said to be duly covered by Quarry Lease No. 37326.
The company alleged that the shutdown, which occurred on July 24, 2025, followed claims that it had encroached on land belonging to another firm. It further claimed that NSCDC operatives forcefully seized its property without legal authorization.
In its filing, Stone Rockers is seeking a declaration that the shutdown of its operations was unlawful, arbitrary, and an abuse of statutory powers. It also asked the court to declare that the confiscation of its equipment on August 16, 2025, constituted an illegal interference with its right to operate.
The company is requesting the court to order the defendants to pay N5 billion in damages for losses incurred, return all seized equipment, and refrain from any further interference with its activities.
Additionally, it is asking the court to allow it resume its operations without obstruction.
The case has been assigned to Justice Mohammed Garuba Umar and is scheduled for hearing on May 19, 2026.
