Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced a scheduled electricity disruption in parts of Abuja following ongoing infrastructure relocation work linked to road construction projects within the Federal Capital Territory.
The electricity distribution company disclosed the development in a notice published on its verified X account on Friday, informing residents and businesses that the outage would take place on Saturday and Sunday.
According to AEDC, areas expected to experience temporary power interruption include Lugbe, Airport Road, Gaduwa, and surrounding communities.
The company explained that the planned outage became necessary after a request from the Federal Capital Development Authority to relocate critical electricity infrastructure within the affected corridor.
Specifically, AEDC stated that the exercise involves the relocation of facilities connected to the 33KV feeders H21 and H23, as well as the 11KV feeder H1A situated in the Gaduwa District.
The distribution company noted that the relocation exercise forms part of wider road construction and infrastructure development projects currently underway in the public interest.
As a result, electricity supply to the affected communities will remain suspended throughout the duration of the operation.
“Supply will be restored upon completion of the exercise,” the company stated.
AEDC also apologised to customers for the inconvenience the disruption may cause and appealed for public understanding during the period of the maintenance and relocation work.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding,” the notice added.
The company advised residents and businesses in the affected areas to make adequate arrangements ahead of the planned outage while engineers carry out the necessary relocation work.
