Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recovered a cache of ammunition during a fighting patrol in Mallam Fatori, located in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed by a counter-insurgency and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in a statement shared on X.
According to Makama, the operation was carried out at about 7:30 a.m. on April 18 by troops of the 68 Battalion stationed in the area.
He explained that the patrol was conducted ahead of the troops’ defensive positions, targeting a route suspected to be used by insurgents withdrawing from the area following an earlier attack recorded on March 18.
During the exercise, troops reportedly recovered 166 rounds of PKT-linked ammunition along with a bandolier.
Makama noted that no direct encounter occurred between the troops and any suspected terrorist elements during the patrol.
“The general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain high morale and operational effectiveness,” Makama said.
