Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised two suspected terrorists during a night-time ambush operation in Borno State.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources familiar with the operation.
According to the report, the ambush was carried out on Saturday at about 8:45 p.m. by troops of B Company, 144 Battalion (Motorised) in the Kaffin Hausa area as part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
Security sources said the troops had strategically positioned themselves before encountering the suspected terrorists, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire.
“At the end of the engagement, two terrorists were neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” the source said.
Following the operation, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles from the scene.
No casualties were reported among the soldiers, although a wounded individual of unknown identity was observed during the encounter.
Military authorities said follow-up operations are ongoing, with troops combing the surrounding area to track fleeing suspects and gather further intelligence.
