Fubara Backs Tinubu, Says Nigeria on Stable Path

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stating that Nigeria is on a stable trajectory and requires continued support to sustain ongoing reforms.

He made the remarks while declaring open the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt, an event that brought together traditional rulers from all 17 southern states to deliberate on issues of unity, security, and economic development.

According to Fubara, despite existing economic and governance challenges, the current administration has made notable progress in areas such as economic recovery and infrastructure expansion, including major coastal road projects.

He emphasised that consistency in governance is key to maintaining progress, cautioning against abrupt policy changes that could disrupt ongoing efforts.

“it is not ideal to change the goalpost in the middle of the game.”

The governor also urged political, traditional, and community leaders across the southern region to strengthen collaboration in pursuit of shared development goals, noting that unity remains essential for long-term peace and growth.

He described the hosting of the meeting in Rivers State as a reflection of the state’s stability and its readiness to host significant national engagements.

Speaking at the gathering, the Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who presides over the council, said the meeting was aimed at strengthening ties among communities and promoting peaceful coexistence.

He noted that the region’s cultural diversity, reflected in the wide range of languages and traditions, remains a source of strength.

The monarch explained that the forum provides an opportunity for traditional rulers to engage on shared concerns and explore ways to support government efforts in addressing security and economic challenges.

He added that while participation in the council is voluntary, such engagements are vital for fostering both regional cooperation and national development.

The meeting attracted prominent traditional rulers from the South-South, South-East, and South-West geopolitical zones.
